Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar, one of the American and British sitar artist. She was among the youngest and first female to win the British House of Commons Shield she's had 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to play live in concert and act as a host at the awards ceremony. Anoushka is the new star on the rise in Indian sitar. She is the student and child of Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was in London in 1982, and was a young girl who travelled back and forth to London as well as New Delhi. When she was 13, she gave her debut performance on stage in New Delhi. Then she moved to Encinitas CA, where she obtained the High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha's career as a musician and performer is remarkable, even at her youth. Her father has been with her in many performances for many years. She released her first self-titled album Anourag in the year 1998. The album was released in 2002. her Grammy award-winning album Live At Carnegie Hall. Stage performances are a significant part of her work. She's played in many famous venues around the world. Anoushka's career goes beyond the realm of music. Bapi the Love of My Live, a biography of a picture that was dedicated to her father Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. Also, she appeared in movie in 2003. The role she played was that of as a Bharat natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shakar's career as a professional will only continue to grow and develop. We can look at seeing lots of new things from her. Anoushka Shakar, who was born in England was a major part of her adult life in London Delhi. After moving to California she graduated from her high school. Anoushka Shankar began her musical studies at age nine. After four years she played her first sitar debut in Delhi at her father's 75th birthday party. Anoushka had the opportunity to acquire many valuable experiences when she accompanied her father during his worldwide tour. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concerts in addition to recording together with George Harrison. She was the youngest and only female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament to recognize her talent and musical ability as a preeminent musician of music in Asian Arts.
